The NDP is demanding Premier Tim Houston re-establish a dedicated housing department and a full-time minister. Leader Claudia Chender sent a letter to the premier yesterday criticizing his decision late last year to combine housing and economic development into the Department of Growth and Development. She says the province needs a minister and department focused solely on protecting renters, making homes affordable and making home ownership a possibility.
